Dan in Real LifeA romantic drama about a family get-together. Marlene makes a real darling of a daughter, though the role is smallish.
Dan is a father of three girls, his wife having died four years ago. Two of
the girls are teenagers, interested in boys, and no easier to deal with
than you'd imagine. The third, played by Marlene, is about nine, and,
especially in contrast, such a darling. The role isn't that big, although
the character is moderately important, because the plot involves finding a
balance between Dan's love interest and his daughters.
If I say that the movie is a romantic drama about a family get-together
that pretty much covers it. Dan falls in love with his brother's girlfriend
the first day of the get-together, and you'll pretty easily guess the rest.
Not a bad film if this is what you fancy. For me, Marlene was more of a
reason to watch this than any other element.
