Nine LivesDakota stars in one of the nine short stories about lives of people. Her role is a pretty simple "happy girl" one, but the ending makes it worth seeing.
Nine short stories from lives of people, most of whom have lost something.
Some of the characters are connected to each other between the stories, but
that's not a major element of the movie. Some find the sum of the short
stories interesting, while others consider Nine Lives a pointless
experiment. I fall somewhere inbetween.
Dakota's story is the last of the nine. She plays Maria, who is having a
picnic with her mother at a cemetary. The character has only one mood,
pleasant and merry, which oddly persists even once her mother starts
suddenly crying. It's the classic "perfect, happy daughter" role. Only once
you reach the conclusion of the scene does the role have a meaning, which
at least for me was a powerful one.
