Red Riding Hood (2004)A very modern, teen-oriented and crappy version of the tale. Morgan's natural charm isn't enough to make the role worthwhile.
A very modern version of the old tale, aimed for preteen girls. A
grandmother comes baby sit an early teen girl (Morgan) and her little
brother, and entertains them by reading the Little Red Riding Hood story,
except modified for the current day. The girl imagines being the heroine of
the story, and similarly for the other two people present; this Red has a
little brother. Even the oh so handsome hunter shows up before end of the
movie, which event, although hardly exciting, comes as close to the climax
of this movie as it gets. The style of humor is mostly suited for children,
but the age of the heroine and some mild sexual overtones indicate the
intended audience is early teenagers. There are also plenty of references
to modern day teen culture, such as the grandmother tying up her phone by
flirting in an internet chatroom.
The budget must have been tight, with low production values and quite
unpolished acting. Morgan has a degree of natural charm and makes a fine
Red, independent and teeny, but there's not much character development or
even close-up shots. Morgan is the only possible reason to invest 80
minutes of your life on this movie.
